Welcome to NativeAstro: A Guided Tour of the Library

A new home for classical Jyotish — here is how the learning library, the free calculations, and the reports fit together, and where to start with your own chart.

5 min read

NativeAstro is a classical Vedic astrology (Jyotish) platform built around one idea: the calculations should be free, precise, and identical for everyone, while the interpretation is a crafted reading you choose to pay for. This page is the front door — it explains what each part of the site does and links you into the deeper articles, so you can always find the level of detail you want.

Two layers, deliberately separate

Every reading on the site rests on two layers that never blur together. Layer one is calculation: given the same birth data, the engine produces the same chart every time — positions, houses, divisional charts, and dashas, computed with Swiss Ephemeris against the classical sidereal zodiac (see how your chart is calculated for the full pipeline, and why NativeAstro exists for the philosophy). This layer is always free — it will live in the chart and calculations tools, which are on their way. Today the engine's output is best explored through the library itself.

Layer two is interpretation: a plain-language reading of those numbers, written by a language model with strict rules — ground every statement in the data, admit uncertainty, never hype. That is what a report is, and it is the only thing you pay for. The library below exists to help you do the interpretation yourself, at your own pace, for free.

What is free today

The library below is free and always will be. Right now it is also the whole site: the chart engine, reports, and accounts are still in the workshop and will appear here when they are ready. So the free part is the reading itself — every sign, planet, house, and nakṣatra explained, at your own pace.

If you are brand new, start with what a birth chart is and the classic walkthrough of how to read a chart.

The library map

The Learn section is organized so you can zoom from the widest view to the finest. The Archetypes are the four data-driven reference hubs — the cast and stages of every chart:

  • The Signs — the twelve rāśis, the archetypes every placement is filtered through.
  • The Planets — the nine grahas, the actors: who is acting, and how.
  • The Houses — the twelve bhāvas, the arenas of life.
  • Lunar Mansions (Nakshatras) — the 27 nakṣatras, the finest-grained layer, one of the four archetype hubs.

Around those four hubs, the article categories fill in the depth:

You never have to read in order. Every part of the library links to its neighbours, so you can jump in anywhere.

Reports (coming with the full launch)

When you want your whole chart woven together, a report will be the interpretation layer: a structured reading of your placements, dashas, and yogas, with the free calculations attached at the top. It will be paid from your wallet balance, which you top up in any of the offered ways — card (Stripe), Wise, crypto (USDT on Solana), or PayPal. Because the processing fees differ per method, the cheaper rails earn you back the difference as cashback credit; the fee math is shown openly at checkout and explained in the Terms.

Until the full launch, the pricing and rail choices may still evolve — and you can also invite friends and earn wallet credit toward free reports — see Invite & Earn in your dashboard. That, the calculations, and this entire library are the free part of NativeAstro, and they stay free.

How to Find This in Your Chart

  1. The chart tools are still in the workshop — start with the four archetype hubs (above) or the two guides, what a birth chart is and how to read a chart.
  2. When a chart tool arrives, every placement on the wheel will link to the article that explains that piece of your chart.
  3. If a planet's sign or house placement matters most to you, open the Planets in Signs or Planets in Houses hub and find that planet.
  4. For the timing of your life, read the dasha articles until the calculations tool lands.
  5. When you want the whole picture drawn together, a report will weave it for you: the same free calculation, plus the crafted interpretation — coming with the full launch.
